Cooper’s Like A Box Of Chocolates….

You never know what you are going to get when he wakes up.  He will either be

1.  Extremely happy

2.  Extremely NOT happy.  He will wake up, stand by the gate in his room and cry.  He will want you to pick him up.  You will do this and he will want to be put down.  Then he will cry some more.  You’ll try to pick him back up and he will scream and hit you.  So then you’ll ask if he wants something to drink.  This may stop the screaming, kicking, crying, and hitting.  You’ll give him juice, but he’ll want milk.  You’ll give him milk and he’ll want juice.  At this point you will have given up, which will make him even more upset.  After about 10 or 15 minutes he will get over what ever the heck was wrong.

Please tell me that your child is like this too?  That I’m not alone???  🙂  Carter was never like this….ever!  Poor little grumpy Cooper…if he had been our first child, I’m not sure there would have been a second!  🙂

Who Let The Dog Out

Tim and I took the boys camping over the Memorial Day Weekend.  I learned two important lessons this weekend.

1.  Anyone who takes small children camping in a tent needs to be committed to a mental facility for observation.  We did not camp in a tent, we camped in a park home with satellite t.v., a full sized fridge, stove, microwave, a toilet and a shower…..and we BARELY survived.  🙂

2.  Camping is a LOT more fun when you leave your children at home.

With that being said, the boys had a blast and Mom and Dad (and probably Grandma and Grandpa too….as we were camping at their campsite) are EXHAUSTED!

And on the way home, Tim and I came up with our theme song for the weekend.  Since Cooper kept opening the sliding glass door on the park home, which let my parents’ dog Dana outside, and then we’d have to go outside and get her before she got mowed down by a golf cart…..our theme song is “Who Let the Dogs Out”……and it goes a little something like this:

Who Let the Dog Out?….Coop, Coop, Coop, Coop!

Who Let the Dog Out?….Coop, Coop, Coop, Coop!

Slowest Pit Stop EVER!

Tim is a HUGE NASCAR fan.  I’m not sure I knew exactly how much of a NASCAR fan he was until it was too late.  He watches the race EVERY weekend, and now both boys watch with him.  Carter knows the names of quite a few of the drivers and even went to his 1st race this past February when we were in Arizona.

Tim has been to the race track in Daytona, once to take a tour and once for the Daytona 500.  When we were there he had a chance change a tire in a pit crew challenge.  He and a few other guys each had a specific thing to do just like in a pit crew (take the tire off, put the tire on, etc.)  I can’t remember exactly how long it took.  Let’s just say that he and the other guys don’t have a future in tire changing.  🙂

So this morning Tim came inside after Carter got off the bus to inform me that his Ford Edge had a flat tire.  I drove it last night to work and was the last one to drive it.  After giving me the third degree about my ride home last night (in a pretty bad thunderstorm in which I drove through a HUGE puddle and almost died), I told him that I was pretty sure that I did not drive home with a flat tire.  I will admit that I know NOTHING about cars.  I once drove my car with pretty much non-existent brake pads until my dad drove it and realized that something was up.  When I get the oil changed on my car and the guy comes out with that stick thing and explains what he did and how much was left in the car, all I hear is “BLAH BLAH BLAH.”  But I think even I would realize that the  back tire was completely flat.

I offered to drive Tim into work and pick him up so he could get there in time.  I even offered to help change the flat (even though I have NO idea how to change a tire.  Didn’t learn in Driver’s Ed and my dad never taught me, he just gave me a AAA Card!)  He declined my help, so I went back to what I was doing, which made him even more upset.  But I offered to help, I offered to drive him into work….what more could I do?

So off Tim went to go change the flat.  He came in about 15 minutes later, and I asked if he was finished.  He wasn’t.  At this point I asked if I could say something without him biting my head off.  I then told him that Pit Crews can change a tire in under 20 seconds.  He wasn’t amused.

About 45 minutes after he initially came in to tell me about the tire, it was changed and Tim was off to work.

Let me just tell you, that was the SLOWEST PIT STOP EVER!  🙂

And in case you were wondering, there was a screw in the tire, the dealership put a plug in for $20, and it’s as good as new.

I’m a GENIUS

Tim and I decided to take the boys out for ice cream this evening.  I’m not really sure why, we were doing yard work before we left and they were NOT listening.  But I was craving ice cream, and we needed to make a quick stop at Home Depot….so off to Kopp’s we went.

For those of you that haven’t heard of Kopp’s, they have AWESOME frozen custard.  (They also have awesome burgers and yummy onion rings too!)  One of my favorite things about Kopp’s is they let you purchase extra cones for your frozen custard.  I love cones, so Tim will usually order three scoops of frozen custard, and I’ll get two empty cones and just put a little frozen custard in each and I’m good to go!

So tonight Tim ordered his usual three scoops of frozen custard and I ordered two scoops with four empty cones, and we got all of this for around $6.00 (not bad for four people!)  We found a seat, and I started putting a couple spoonfuls of ice cream in cones for both boys.  I do this for several reasons.  First, they can never ever finish a cone by themselves.  Secondly, whenever we get a regular cone for them it always starts to melt before they can eat it.  And finally, it is WAY LESS MESSY!  My two scoops with four cones was just the right amount for me and the boys.

A lady next to us was watching me, and when I finished she said, “That is such a good idea, I wish I would have thought of it when my kids were little.”

I’m a genius!  🙂

Lady Gaga Time

Cooper LOVES Lady Gaga.  We can be in the van and one of her songs will be playing on the radio, and after just a few seconds Cooper will say, “Mama, Lady Gaga!”  She was on Oprah a few weeks ago, and he immediately knew that it was Lady Gaga, and of course he started dancing as soon as she started singing.

Carter enjoys a game that he calls “Guy Guy Time”.  He must have been a little older than Cooper when he came up with it.  It involves unfolding his little couch in front of one of our armchairs.  Then Tim sits on the floor in between the chair and the little couch.  Carter climbs up on the chair and Tim flips him over his head and he lands on his back on the little couch (are you following me so far???)

Cooper has recently started to play “Guy Guy Time” too, but this evening he renamed it to “Lady Gaga” Time.  🙂
